Description

At the core of VPN connectivity, there are several protocols and algorithms to choose. In this course, VPN Fundamentals for CCNP® Security, you will learn these protocols and algorithms so that you can select the appropriate level of confidentiality, integrity, and origin authentication. First, you will discover the critical threats to data in transit, including masquerading attacks, spoofing attacks, and man-in-the-middle attacks. Second, you will learn about the benefits of a VPN, VPN components, and VPN options. Next, you will explore confidentiality, integrity, and origin authentication. Finally, you will cover PKI concepts involved in a VPN, as well as some general guidelines for deploying a VPN. By the end of this course, you will be able to explain the fundamental features and protocols involved in a VPN.

Course Overview
Hi everyone, my name is Brandon Carroll, and welcome to my course, VPN Fundamentals for CCNP Security. I am CCIE #23837 and a consulting engineer at Global Config Technology Solutions. There's really two reasons I can think of to learn about Cisco VPNs. First, is that you're attempting to achieve the CCNP Security. The second is that you work with Cisco solutions and you want to gain a stronger understanding of how VPNs are deployed on Cisco ASAs and Cisco routers. In this course we're going to cover some of the topics you'll find on the CCNP Security SIMOS exam, and at the same time, we'll teach you the fundamentals of VPN connectivity. Some of the major topics that we'll cover include key threats to data in transit, the components of a VPN, confidentiality and integrity protocols and algorithms, and some concepts of a public key infrastructure. By the end of this course you'll know the fundamental protocols and algorithms of VPN connectivity. Before beginning the course you should be familiar with network connectivity and you should already process the CCNA Security or an equivalent level of knowledge. From here, you should feel comfortable diving into VPN configurations with courses on site-to-site VPN, FlexVPN, and remote-access VPN. I hope you'll join me on this journey to learn the basics of VPN protocols with the VPN Fundamentals for CCNP Security course, at Pluralsight.
