Now, UVs and UV layout are important aspects of creating textures for 3D models. They let us tell Maya how to apply the 2D images that we create. Having a good UV layout could really make a difference in speeding up texture creation and optimizing your results. In this course, we'll look at the basics of UVs and explore some of the tools we can use in Maya to edit them. We'll look at different mapping and projection types, including planar mapping and automatic mapping. We'll talk about manually editing your UVs, and look at ways of saving out images of our UV layouts to use in the texture in process. Once done, you should have a basic understanding of the UV process in Maya, and you'll be ready to move on to more complex projects.
